Last-ditch talks scheduled Saturday to avert London bus strike
LONDON, Ont. - The union representing London bus drivers is meeting with the London Transit Commission Saturday in a last-ditch attempt to avert a strike.
Talks have been stalled between Amalgamated Transit Union Local 741 and the LTC since October, and a strike is scheduled for Monday if the two sides can't come together.
One London radio station is reporting that a fence has already been erected around a city bus depot.
The city has 35 bus routes and bus drivers handle between 75,000 and 80,000 trips each day, including thousands of university and college students.
The union represents 450 transit workers.
