Tourist destination with a dark side
Mexico is a tourist mecca for Canadians. Almost 1.5 million Canucks visited the country's sandy beaches and sunny vistas in 2010, according to the Mexican Embassy in Canada. But behind the tourist-friendly veneer there can be some dangers. With a violent drug war raging across the country, Canadians have been caught in the crossfire of shootouts and targeted by thieves and armed robbers.
