A man shot in the Mexican city of Culiacan on Jan. 15, 2012 was identified as Salih Abdulaziz Sahbaz, a Canadian citizen originally from Iraq.

Police initially gave no motive in the man's death, although the area in which he was found is known as drug cartel territory. A Mexican official offered that Sahbaz was not in Mexico as a tourist and indicated that "he was up to no good."
