Calgary police are searching for a suspect after finding one man dead and two others injured in a shooting incident in the city's southwest community of Cliff Bungalow.
Police responded to a parking lot in the 1900 block of 5A Street southwest around 8:30 p.m. MT after several reports of gunshots.
"Like six, seven, eight [gunshots]," said area resident Tom Kucy. "Like quick succession too."
Officers searched the area with help from a helicopter and police dogs, but there was no description of the suspect and the motive for the shooting was unknown.
"When officers arrived, they found one man deceased, while two others were suffering wounds as a result of the shooting," said Calgary police in a release.
A man and woman were taken to hospital — one with serious injuries.
One city block was cordoned off, including the area around Western Canada High School.
Investigators have been talking to witnesses late into the evening and looking for anyone who may have seen something. Anyone with information is asked to contact Calgary Crime Stoppers.
The shooting follows a string of investigations this week, including a double stabbing Wednesday, a gunshot death on Thanksgiving and three pedestrians being struck on Calgary roads — two of them hit-and-run collisions.
US authorities say Omar Gonzalez, who broke into the White House on Friday evening, had 800 rounds of ammunition, a machete and two hatchets in his car.
