The CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers made a couple of roster moves Sunday while confirming that quarterback Alex Brink will start against the Edmonton Eskimos for Winnipeg's home opener next Thursday at Canad Inns Stadium.
"I decided to give Alex a chance and play him again," said Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice. Brink had been criticized by some fans for completing just 9 of 33 pass attempts in last week's 25-22 loss to the Toronto Argonauts.
The Blue Bombers, also without starting QB Buck Pierce who is out with a foot injury, are winless in the their first four games this season.
The Bombers announced Sunday release of import running back Bloi-Dei Dorzon while signing defensive lineman JT Gilmore to the practice roster. Gilmore (6-4, 295, Southern Oregon) signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent last year and recorded four defensive tackles during the preseason before being released.
