Snow causes school closures and bus delays

Districts are closing some schools and delaying buses across the province after an overnight snowfall.

Kalin Mitchell, a CBC meteorologist, said snowfall levels across the province varied from seven centimetres in Moncton and Fredericton to three centimetres in Saint John.

That snowfall, however, is causing delays and closures in many school districts on Thursday.

The snowfall has caused District 18 to close schools in Stanley.

Schools in District 14, which includes schools from Woodstock to Edmundston, are opening two hours late and buses are also delayed by two hours.

However, many other districts are opening schools on time but keeping their buses off the roads on Thursday morning.

Schools in Districts 17 and 18 in the Oromocto and Fredericton area are open but buses are operating on a two-hour delay.

District 1 schools in Fredericton are also open but buses are two-hours late.

Meanwhile, buses to district 1 schools in the Moncton, Dieppe and Memramcook areas are also one-hour late.

Schools buses in Districts 2 and in the Shediac and Bouctouches zones of district 11 are all running one-hour late.

District 6 schools, which includes schools in the Hampton and Sussex area, are open but buses are running one-hour late.
