Drunk driving suspect in double trouble

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a man arrested in Mount Pearl on an impaired driving charge on Monday was already being investigated for similar charges in an incident from the day before.

The RNC said the man, 48, was arrested after two vehicles collided Monday afternoon on Commonwealth Avenue, in what the force described as "a minor accident."

The man also faces a charge of failing a breathalyzer test.

In a statement, the RNC said the same man was already under investigation after being stopped on Sunday night. "Police are awaiting toxicological reports before a charge is laid," the RNC said.
