A major power outage is planned for the entire Labrador West region on Sunday.
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro says the power will be turned off from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The company says the outage is necessary to accommodate major work on the Wabush terminal, and to increase capacity for the Iron Ore Company of Canada.
Dawn Dalley of Hydro's parent company Nalcor has some advice on how to protect food from spoiling.
"With a refrigerator it's very difficult over a 12-hour outage not to access it, so one of the recommendations which we say to folks is take things out that you feel could spoil, milk and products that you use frequently," Dalley said.
"And it's probably a good idea to put anything that could spoil in a cooler with some ice to make sure that it stays cool during that period."
Dalley says food in freezers should be OK for 24 hours if the freezer is half full, and up to 48 hours if full.
Labrador West isn't the only area of the Big Land in for an outage tomorrow.
The power will also be out in North West River and Sheshatshiu from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., and in Makkovik from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
