
A woman is in critical condition and in surgery at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with a stab wound sustained in a domestic altercation this morning. The incident happened in a home in Millville, near North Sydney.
Cape Breton Regional Police said the woman fled to a neighbour's house after the altercation. Emergency services were called from there at about 10:12 a.m.
A man also suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest. He's in serious condition in hospital.
As police were en route to the first stabbing call, they learned of a fire on the property where the man and woman live.
A barn had been set on fire. Flames travelled to a side of the nearby house, causing damage there.
Police said their investigation continues and charges are pending.
