Search for Rhonda Wilson continues in Sheffield Mills
RCMP confirm ground search and rescue teams spent Wednesday scouring an area of Sheffield Mills looking for evidence in the disappearance of Rhonda Wilson.
The mother of three disappeared in May of 2002. Her body has not been found.
Wilson's former partner, 45-year-old Albert Rex Baird, was charged with first-degree murder in May.
Police would not confirm the relationship between the victim and the accused but friends of Baird said he was Wilson's common-law husband.
Police said search crews focused on Bains Road, an area located about one kilometre away from the site they spent weeks searching last spring — at an old pig farm in the Annapolis Valley.
RCMP Sgt. Alan LeBlanc said items were found during the search. He said those items need to be analyzed to determine if they are relevant to the case.
Search crews did not return to the site Thursday.
Baird has not entered a plea yet. He's due back in court Nov. 25.
Wilson was 31 years old when she left her Kentville home to go for a walk in August of 2002. She was living with Baird and her three children at the time.
She was never heard from again.
Wilson's case was added to the major unsolved crimes list in April 2010. Police said they received many tips after that announcement, but the tips did not contribute to Baird's arrest.
The province said there has been no activity on Wilson's bank accounts since she disappeared.
