Two teens face weapons charges in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police arrested two teenagers early Monday morning after receiving a tip that one of them may be armed with a gun on Pinecrest Drive.

The police spotted the young men around 5:30 a.m. They said the 16 and 17-year-olds ran when they saw the police but they were quickly arrested.

The K9 Unit was then brought in, and the police found a loaded handgun.

The teens now face seven charges including possession of a dangerous weapon and unsafe handling of a firearm. The 16-year-old is also charged with four counts of breaching an undertaking.

The young men are scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court Monday.
