No criminal charges in Gatineau pit bull attack

Gatineau police say no criminal charges will be laid after a man was attacked by two pitbulls on Lorrain Boulevard Wednesday.

Police said Thursday they are now considering the possibility of municipal bylaw fines after a 44-year-old Gatineau man was attacked Wednesday afternoon and suffered serious facial trauma.

Gatineau police said the man was interested in a car parked along the side of the road, which its owner was selling.

The two pitbulls attacked the man as he approached. He was rushed to hospital with multiple lacerations on his face, Gatineau paramedics said.

The City of Gatineau is reminding its residents to keep potentially dangerous dogs, including pitbulls, in closed buildings or locked enclosures, and to use a leash and muzzle them when they're outside.
