Pitbull euthanized after attack on Gatineau man

A female pitbull was put down by the SPCA de l'Outaouais Friday morning after a Gatineau man was seriously injured in an attack on Wednesday.

Gatineau police said the pitbull's owner signed a contract with the SPCA, giving it custody of the dog. The SCPA then decided to euthanize it.

Two pitbulls were involved in Wednesday's attack, which left a 44-year-old Gatineau man with serious facial trauma.

No decision has been reached about what to do with the other pitbull, police said.

No criminal charges were laid after the attack. The city's bylaw department is considering whether to issue any fines.
