A Saskatoon man is facing charges after allegedly trying to take someone's dog and assaulting the owner.
It happened around 6 p.m. CST Monday on the west side of the city.
A 72-year-old man was walking his dogs on the 400 block of Avenue J South when he was approached by a man.
The suspect picked up one of the small breed dogs, removed its leash and started to walk away, police said.
When the owner objected, the suspect allegedly assaulted him.
A witness, a 56-year-old man, came to the man's aid but was also assaulted.
Several neighbours got involved and managed to stop the assault. Police arrested the suspect.
He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday charged with robbery, assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer.
