TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,890.89 up 32.76points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down eight cents, or 2.18 per cent, at $3.59 on 8,498,140 shares. The plane and train maker's stock dipped a day after posting weaker second-quarter results.

Open Range Corp. (TSX:ONR). Oil and gas. Down seven cents, or 4.46 per cent, at $1.50 on 5,191,500 shares. Peyto Exploration and Development Corp. (TSX:PEY) raised its all-stock offer for the Calgary-based company earlier this week to fend off a rival bid. Peyto's shares were down 73 cents, or 3.38 per cent, at $20.84 on 1,178,638 shares.

Research In Motion (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Up 50 cents, or 6.48 per cent, at $8.22 on 4,412,265 shares. The BlackBerry maker's shares traded as high as $8.31 during intraday trading as rumours swirl that IBM is interested in buying the BlackBerry maker's enterprise division.

Calmena Energy Services Inc. (TSX:CEZ). Construction services. Up three cents, or 16.67 per cent, at 21 cents on 3,526,480 shares. The Calgary company's stock closed at its highest level of the day, boosted by strong revenues in the second quarter. Calmena announced Thursday its revenue nearly doubled to $34 million from $18 million while its loss was nearly unchanged.

Gran Colombia Gold Corp. (TSX:GCM). Miner. Down a penny, or 3.23 per cent, at 30 cents on 3,429,670 shares. The Toronto based miner will report its second-quarter results next week.

Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Down 33 cents, or 3.34 per cent, at $9.55 on 3,355,412 shares. The metals and mining sector was one of the major advancers, up 0.75 per cent.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,191 down 2.05 points):

Porto Energy Corp. (TSXV:PEC). Oil and gas. Unchanged at seven cents on 9,613,100 shares.

Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Down nine cents, or 4.50 per cent, at $1.91 on 3,437,497 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR). Railway. Up 56 cents, or 0.63 per cent, at $89.76 on 509,323 shares. The country's largest railway said it is working with several mining companies and the Caisse de depot pension fund on a study into a new transportation rail line for iron ore producers at the Quebec-Labrador border.

Open Text Corp. (TSX:OTC). Software. Up $5.13, or 10.46 per cent, at $54.19 on 467,797 shares. Shares in the Toronto-based company rose as high as $54.70 Friday a day after the company reported a fourth-quarter profit of US$8 million or 14 cents per share, down from $28.6 million or 49 cents per share. Revenue increased seven per cent to $305.6 million.

Stella-Jones Inc. (TSX:SJ). Railway tie and utility pole maker. Up $1.88, or 3.26 per cent, at $59.60 on 20,043 shares. The company raised its dividend 6.7 per cent after reporting profits were up 20.1 per cent at $20.8 million or $1.30 per share in its most recent quarter. That compared with net profits of $17.3 million or $1.08 per share in the same year-earlier period.
