Edgehill woman dies in hospital
BARRIE – Police are at the scene where an unresponsive woman was found.
Police are investigating the discovery of a woman they described as unresponsive at a home on Edgehill Drive, just east of Ferndale Drive.
BARRIE – Barrie police say the woman found on Edgehill Drive near Ferndale Drive this morning has died in hospital.
Barrie Const. Angela Butler said police are not suspecting any foul play in the death, but blame it on alcohol and the weather.
The 55-year-old woman was found fully-clothed in a backyard of one of the units.
"From what we believe, alcohol and weather exposure are contributing factors to her death as we believe she was out there for most of the night," Butler said.
Police were called at 10:30 a.m. today by a neighbour who noticed the woman outdoors.
When police arrived she was "very unresponsive", however she was alive at the time.
Butler said the woman was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where doctors attempted to save her life.
