Live professional boxing will return to the Hershey Centre on June 1 when recently-crowned North American Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion Denton Daley headlines a card presented by United Boxing Promotions.

The undefeated Brampton fighter (9-0) is coming off of an impressive win over veteran Richard Hall on March 4 in Toronto. Daley, 30, won by unanimous decision in a 10-round contest for the vacant NABF title  The win moved him up to 15th in the World Boxing Commission rankings.

Daley works with Kitchener-based trainer Syd Vanderpool and, while he lacks experience, promoter Don MacDonald said he’s a tremendous athlete who is quickly mastering the technical aspects of boxing.

“From what Syd is telling me, Denton’s a sponge,” McDonald said. “He’s very sound mentally and physically, so they’re working on the technical side of boxing right now and he’s learning very quickly.”

Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster and at the Hershey Centre box office.
