A Hamilton woman has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man injected with heroin. Police and emergency medical services personnel were called to a home on the west Mountain Jan. 20 and found a nonresponsive man. A post-mortem determined the victim — Edward (Eddy) Cieslik, 36, of Hamilton — died as a result of acute heroin toxicity. Police said Cieslik had consensually been injected with heroin prior to his death. He grew up in Oshawa and has family there. Detective Sergeant Joe Stewart of the homicide unit said a manslaughter charge is laid when there was no intent to kill but the accused should have realized there was a danger in what he or she was doing. The accused and Cieslik knew each other but were not a couple, Stewart said. The incident occurred at the home of one. Sarah Jackson, 36, was arrested Wednesday and charged with manslaughter.;
