Mississauga-Streetsville MP Brad Butt (right) chats with constituents.

Mississauga-Streetsville MP Brad Butt held his annual MP's levee on today.

For the second year, the MP invited all his constituents to an informal get together, which was held at the BraeBen Golf Course.

Speaking between handshakes, Butt said he felt the levee was in important way for his constituents to connect with both their MP and each other.

"I think its a nice gesture every year to say Happy New Year to your constituents and invite them to come out to a little reception," Butt said.

Adding that the BraeBen Golf Course, which is run by the City Of Mississauga, was an excellent venue for the levee, the Conservative MP said, "It gets constituents out to a nice location in the riding where they can have some fun and meet their neighbours."

Butt added that people particularly valued "face time" with their politicians in Mississauga. "Mayor McCallion really set the benchmark in Mississauga for political accessibility. If you're going to be a good representative of the people in this city you need to be with your people and you need to be engaged and encourage them to be in contact with you as often as possible."
