For 18 years, Delta Bingo employee Ron Agley has spearheaded a drive for food and new toys at the Speers Road gaming centre because he says, it’s just something that needs to be done.

“I just think Christmas, especially, is a time when people need food in their stomach and kids need toys.”

This year, the drive donated more than 5,000 pounds of food to Fareshare food bank, hundreds of toys to the Oakville Professional Firefighters Association’s Toy Drive, and raised $5,000 for both organizations.

Agley also collects pennies and Canadian Tire money year round to buy bicycles and larger toys for children of all ages for the drive.

“Canadian Tire also donated 20 bikes to the toy drive this year, which was great,” he said. “I just want to thank everyone involved, including Delta staff and players, for going more than above and beyond.”
