The Niagara Health System is offering advance tours of the new hospital on Jan. 12 and 26.

It seems that hundreds of people decided to take up the Niagara Health System’s offer for a public tour of the new hospital.

It's estimated more than 100 people in line for the tour before the 10 a.m. start time and more than 1,000 within the first hour.

The tours continue through Saturday afternoon, and those interested in seeing the state-of-the-art facility are asked to arrive before 3:30 p.m.

There will also be a tour in two weeks (Sat., Jan. 26) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new hospital is located at 1200 Fourth Ave., and there will be free parking available on site. Enter from the main entrance on First Street Louth.

Those taking the tour are asked to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold. They are also reminded to wear comfortable shoes and clothing — there will be no coat check available.

As well, it’s noted that food and drinks are not permitted, except for bottled water.

The hospital opens on March 24.
