Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau pretends to strangle himself with a tie given to him with honorary membership in the National Press Club in Ottawa Sept. 17, 1968.

"He knew the value of a great photo, and he was just a master (at making it happen)," says Ryan Remiorz, a Canadian Press photographer in Montreal who shot pictures of Trudeau for 20 years. Trudeau never let the fear of making himself a fool hinder a good photo-op - and he had some memorable photo-ops because of it.

"Most of the guys now, they're so afraid, and their handlers are so afraid...that they try to choreograph everything," says Remiorz.
