Former Canadian ambassador Stephen Lewis gave one of three eulogies at Jack Layton's funeral. Layton's son and daughter also spoke.

"Layton was a champion for gay and lesbian rights, housing for the homeless, the white ribbon campaign to fight violence against women, environmental innovations, bike lanes, wind power," said Lewis. His speech was at times partisan, at times moving.

Lewis said that Layton's last letter was "a manifesto for social democracy." The crowd erupts into a standing ovation.
