RCMP have charged 46-year-old Alfred Guy Vuozzo with two counts of first-degree murder in the double homicide of a father and his adult son Wednesday night in Montague.
The suspect was taken before a justice of the peace in Georgetown Thursday evening.
Vuozzo, of Lower Montague, will make his next court appearance next week in Georgetown court and will remain in custody until then.
He was arrested at 7:40 a.m. Thursday.
The crime scene was a home on St. Mary's Road, about 10 kilometres south of Montague.
Police have not released the names of the victims, or how they were killed. The news release said autopsies will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Police do not believe anyone else was involved in the deaths.
RCMP were called to the home at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. The two people were found dead inside. RCMP had blocked a large section of the road, but reopened it at about 11 a.m.
"The investigation is still in its preliminary stage. At this time we don't have any exact details of what went on in the residence," said RCMP Sgt. Leanne Butler, in a news briefing at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Police had said about 1 a.m. Thursday that no manhunt was underway, contrary to reports on social media, and there was no threat to the public.
Butler said police subsequently received information that led to the arrest, and that the arrest was made without incident in the Montague area.
