A cyclist who was hit by an SUV on Vancouver Island on Tuesday has posted a photo on Facebook of the vehicle which allegedly hit him in a bid to track down the driver.
Matt Gadd, 39, was travelling westbound on the intersection of Island Highway at Helmcken Road in View Royal, B.C., when he says he was struck by the silver Dodge SUV turning left onto Helmcken Road.
According to West Shore RCMP, the incident happened around 4:10 p.m. PT. Although the SUV driver stayed to help Gadd, he left without providing his contact details or licence plate number.
Gadd was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Writing on Facebook on Wednesday, Gadd said he was "quite sore, but I'll survive...Bike is in worse shape."
Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz is hoping the SUV driver contacts the West Shore RCMP Detachment and speaks with their investigators.
The driver is described as a Caucasian man with a dark complexion and black short hair. He is six feet tall and was wearing a grey sleeveless T-shirt and black shorts featuring a red band of colour.
Anyone with information is asked to contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
