CBC News has confirmed that a Regina man was the victim of homicide while he was in Mexico.
Duane Lang, 46, was killed July 28 in Puerto Vallarta on what was supposed to be a relaxing trip to a resort area.
Family members told CBC News that the man's death was not accidental and they were still trying to get more information on what happened. They added they were cautioned by authorities to not comment on the case, as it was under investigation.
Lang was a longtime businessman in Regina and was a partner in an insurance firm.
He was a frequent visitor to Mexico for holidays and extended stays.
Foreign Affairs confirmed that a Canadian has been killed in Mexico but officials would not confirm the person's identity. Canadian diplomats are in contact with Mexican authorities to gather additional information, the department said.
