Hollywood Police Detectives have identified and obtained an arrest warrant for Twane Dobard as the person responsible for the homicide of a Montreal-area man. Hollywood, Fla., police department
A suspect in the death of a Canadian man in South Florida has reportedly turned himself in to police.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Twane Dobard after the body of 58-year-old Domenico Perruccio was found early Sunday on a sidewalk in Hollywood, Fla. Hollywood is about 30 kilometres north of Miami.
Police spokesman Lt. Osvaldo Perez said the victim had been stabbed during "some sort of scuffle" and that the death was ruled a homicide.
Dobard turned himself in to Hallandale Beach police at about 9 p.m. local time Monday. It was unclear what charges he may face.
Local reports had quoted neighbours as saying Perruccio was waiting for his wife to arrive because the couple were supposed to leave on a cruise on Monday.
CBC News has learned he lived in Saint-Constant, on Montreal's South Shore. The family is not giving interviews.
Perez said police have notified Perruccio's family and Canadian consular officials.
