One year later
A year after the protests began, the outcome in Syria is very different from other countries involved in the Arab Spring uprisings. It remains mired in a slow civil war that has seen more than 11,000 people die, including hundreds of children, with international diplomacy apparently unable to intervene. As Syrians mark the anniversary, the future for the country still looks very uncertain.
